This service involves tuning an instrument that has been regularly tuned, at least annually, or preferably every 6 months.
I will ensure that the piano is tuned to concert pitch (A=440Hz) if possible and attend any minor repairs/maintenance upon the tuning visit for no extra charge (provided that the additional work does not protract the tuning visit beyond the allowed timeframe) To preserve the piano in a healthy state, I generally recommend a regular tuning schedule of 2 visits per annum.
Please allow 1.5 - 2+ hours for this service.
Price: £CALL
The correct Pitch for the piano is A440Hz or 'concert pitch'. If the piano hasn't been tuned for many years, it will invariably go out of tune with an overall drop in pitch. Unstable environments can also dramatically affect the state of tune of an instrument, even if it has been tuned regularly. Pitch raising is necessary when the instrument has dropped in pitch by over 25 cents and the process involves two 'passes' across the entire keyboard, the latter being a fine tune.
Priced from £CALL Please note that in most cases where the pitch correction is significant (over 25 cents) a second follow up appointment is advisable to carry out a fine tuning.
Repairs such as broken strings, broken hammer shanks, re-centering of flanges to keyboard servicing, key levelling and all matters concerning regulation and adjustments are catered for.
Priced upon an individual basis.
Sympathetic minor refurbishment tasks can carried out in the home (charged on a daily rate) or more extensive projects can be catered for in my workshop in Horsham, West Sussex. Please contact me for a chat about your requirements.
